1968 The Concert
Singer David Nathan Scott, bassist Pete Maness, drummer Alex Wyatt and Chuck Mymit on piano perform a 90-minute revue of music written, recorded, and/or released in 1968. Backup vocals will be provided by 'The RayRonettes' i.e. Rayna Dae and Ronica Reddick. Artists to be covered include: Donovan, Sly and the Family Stone, The Rascals, Mary Hopkins, the Bee Gees, Jimmy Webb, Todd Rundgren, Marvin Gaye, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Nino Rota, Harry Nilsson, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat and Tears, Jimi Hendrix, Burt Bacharach, Leonard Cohen, The Beatles, Traffic, Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, and Hugh Masekela.
1968 was a pivotal, iconic, singular year in global politics, youth culture, progressive movements, and music. Both Newsweek and Time Magazine have devoted covers to 'the year that changed everything'. It has also been the subject of symposia, movies and other media coverage this year. You are invited to take a trip back 40 years in time when the music was especially groovy, melodic, unapologetic and informative!
